Yes. You will be asked to enter your Snuko device password each time you try to access the Snuko application. This prevents unauthorised users from being able to perform functions such as restoring your data or changing your password.
This is the password which you were asked to set during the installation of the Snuko application onto your phone. To change this you will need to open the Snuko application and select the “Change Password” menu item. You will then be asked to enter and confirm your new password.
By selecting this option, your phone will be locked from any further use and you will be presented with a screen asking you to enter a password in order to unlock it again. You will also find a “Snuko-Lock” icon within your phone´s application list which provides you with a shortcut to perform the same function. It´s a good idea to get into the habit of using this feature when putting your phone down, particularly in crowded public places, as having the lock screen displayed along with the Snuko Anti-Theft logo will act as a powerful deterrent to any potential thieves.
Yes. Open the app on your device and select the “Test Snuko Now” option from the main menu. Snuko will begin the process of gathering information about your device as if it was lost (but DOES NOT encrypt or back up your data). For additional security, you can check the “PIN Protect lock screen” option which will prompt for your Snuko PIN code to be entered before the lock screen can be dismissed.
Snuko strongly recommends that you set this lock screen for use on a daily basis as should your device get lost, the Snuko Lock screen allowa the finder to enter their contact details so that you can get hold of them to recover it.
To set Snuko as the default lock on your Android device, please complete the following steps:
Log into your online account immediately, select your item from the dashboard and click on the Report as Lost button.
When you report your phone as lost/stolen, our servers will send an immediate notification to it which will trigger the start of the data encryption and lock down processes. Shortly after this, Snuko will display a “locked” screen which requires your device password to be entered in order to continue using the phone. Without this, the phone will be locked down from further use.
Yes. However, the process of data backup is only initiated once your phone has been reported as lost/stolen. Snuko will create an encrypted backup of your contacts* to prevent unauthorised access. This backup, as well as an encrypted copy of your call logs, SMSs (Android only), and Application list will also be sent to our secure servers. When you report your device as found, Snuko will then automatically begin the process of restoring the data back to your phone.

Yes. Should an unauthorised person attempt to insert a different SIM card into your phone, they will be prompted to enter your Snuko device password in order to authorise it and continue using the phone. If the correct password is not entered then details about this SIM card will be captured and displayed within your account with a status of “Unauthorised”. These details* could include the SIM Card number, the phone number and the International Subscriber ID (IMSI). The next time you log in on our website, a “Device Alert” message will appear before you are taken to your account dashboard which will advise you of the unauthorised SIM card change. This alert will also give you the date and time that the event took place along with a link to view the exact details of the SIM card.
* the capture of these details is dependent on the network service provider of the SIM card
Using GPS (or WiFi and cell-tower triangulation) Snuko will provide Google Map images of where your device has been used. To view this information, log into your account online and click on the Item Events and Data tab.
When the finder turns on your phone, they will be presented with the lock screen which states that it is protected by Snuko and that the owner has reported it as lost. This screen provides the finder with the ability to enter their contact details and a short message to submit to the owner advising that they have the phone in their possession. Snuko will then capture this information and display it on the Item Events & Data tab within your account dashboard (under the Finder Info section). The next time you log into your account, you will receive a “Device Alert” message advising you of this. You are then able to get in contact with the finder to arrange the collection of your phone.
You should log into your account online, select the device from the dashboard and click on the “Report as Found” button. The next time your phone checks in for a status update it will switch to unlocked mode and you will be able to access it again.
Should you wish to access your phone immediately after finding it, there is a link at the bottom of the lock screen which says “Unlock Now”. Clicking on this will prompt you to enter your Snuko device password which will then temporarily unlock your phone. It will remain in temporary unlock mode for 5 minutes. To permanently unlock it you will need to log into your online account and report it as found.
You should log into your account online, select the device from the dashboard and click on the “Report as Found” button. This will set your device to unlocked mode so that you may gain access to it again. You can then begin the process of recovering your data using the Snuko application.
The data on your phone will still be in an encrypted state from being reported as lost. After reporting your phone as found on our website, open the Snuko application on your phone and select the “Restore Data” item from the main menu. There are three categories of data which you can choose to restore: Contacts, Media(e.g music, movie and picture files) and Files(any other data stored on your SD card or phone´s internal memory). These can be run simultaneously and you may continue to use your phone as normal. However, consideration should be given to the amount of data which you have to restore for the Media and Files categories as large restores could slow the operation of your phone. Therefore, you may wish to initiate these restores during a period when your phone usage is low. A file count below each category will give you an indication of the progress being made during the restore process.
With Snuko you can send various commands using either SMS(Android users) or email(BlackBerry users) to your device allowing you to control it remotely without having to log into your online account.
Simply enter your PIN code followed by a space and the particular command which you wish to initiate, as shown below.
